The Past Teaches Here
Curriculum-linked heritage trails your class can explore on-site or prep for entirely from the classroom β built to work for every learner.
If The Past Could Talk turns thousands of local heritage sites across Ireland β ringforts, monasteries, courthouses, famine-era buildings, Georgian streets β into a first-person voice your students can hear in the classroom or standing right in front of the stone. No app to install, no accounts to create, nothing to manage on your side.
01Built for the Curriculum
Primary β Storyteller & Explorer
Age-appropriate storytelling for Junior Infantsβ2nd Class and 3rdβ6th Class, with vocabulary and pacing matched to each level.
Junior Cycle β CBA1
Built-in research prompts tied to visible architectural and historical detail, ready to support Classroom-Based Assessment 1 work.
Leaving Cert β History RSR
Deeper source-based framing for the Research Study Report, with the same verified-fact grounding as every other level.
Local, Not Generic
Every trail is a specific place near you β not a textbook abstraction. Students learn the history of the ground under their own feet.
Pop in your email and the download opens straight away β no account, no spam, just the PDF and the occasional update for teachers.
02Built for Every Learner
Accessibility isn't an add-on here β it's core to how the app works, for students who read at different levels, process language differently, or simply learn better by listening.
📖 Easy Read Mode
Simplifies every generated story into short sentences and plain words, following the Easy Read accessible information standard. Works with any class level.
🎙 Audio Narration
Every site's story is spoken aloud, not just written β a genuine read-aloud option for students who find listening easier than reading.
High-Contrast Text
A dedicated high-contrast text version of every story, for students who need it.
12 Languages
Including Irish (Gaeilge) β useful for Gaelscoileanna and for EAL students hearing the story in a language they're more confident in.
Real on-site recordings: Junior/Senior/Leaving Cert/Heritage Guest mode switching, a full Irish-language narration with primary-source analysis, and the High-Contrast Text toggle.
A walkthrough of Teacher Space and If The Past Could Talk across Junior and Senior curriculum use β the same experience your students would get.
03Get Them Outdoors β Or Don't
Start to finish: picking a trail, switching on Classroom Prep Mode, generating a worksheet, and the printable result β no GPS or site visit required.
Who holds the device: for Junior Infantsβ2nd Class, we recommend the teacher operates the app as a whole-class or small-group activity β point the camera at the site yourself and play the story aloud, rather than handing devices to individual pupils. For 3rd Class and up, including Junior Cycle, supervised student use (individually or in pairs) works well. Either way: photograph the site, not the children, and use a school device on the school network where possible.
04Pricing
One free worksheet or trail booklet per session, so you can try it with no commitment. Beyond that:
